UES - University Entry Scheme - Indian Navy🎖️
The University Entry Scheme (UES) is a direct entry recruitment scheme engineering graduates who aspire to join the Indian Navy as officers. This scheme is designed for unmarried male and female B.E./B.Tech candidates who wish to join as Permanent Commission (PC) or Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in the Executive, Technical, and Naval Architecture branches.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between 21 to 24 years at the time of commencement of training.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must be in their final year of B.E./B.Tech from an AICTE-recognized university. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till the pre-final year (till the 5th semester of a 4-year course or the 7th semester of a 5-year integrated course).
Eligible Engineering Branches for Different Roles: Executive Branch: Any stream of B.E./B.Tech. Technical Branch: Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Production, Instrumentation, Control, Aerospace, Automobiles, Metallurgy, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering & Management, and related fields. Naval Architecture Branch: Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Metallurgy, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Ship Technology, Ship Building, Ship Design.
Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried at the time of application.
Selection Process
Campus Selection (Initial Screening): The Indian Navy visits engineering colleges/universities to conduct campus interviews. Candidates are shortlisted based on their academic performance, technical skills, and leadership qualities.
Shortlisted candidates receive a call letter for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
SSB Interview: The SSB interview is a five-day evaluation process. It assesses a candidate’s personality, intelligence, and psychological suitability, which includes various tests such as WAT, TAT, SRT, PPDT, GTO tasks, group discussions, personal interviews, and psychological evaluations.
Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a medical examination conducted by a board of Service Medical Officers (SMOs).
Merit List: A final merit list is prepared based on SSB performance and medical fitness. Candidates are issued joining letters for training based on vacancies available.
Training
Training Location: Selected candidates undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala.
Training Duration: Naval Orientation Course (NOC) – 22 weeks. Professional training follows at Naval Ships and Training Establishments. Executive (General Service) candidates undergo a 44-week NOC at INA.
Type of Commission: Permanent Commission (PC): For Executive and Education branches. Short Service Commission (SSC): For Technical branches, typically for 10 years, extendable up to 14 years.
