The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to recruit officers for the Flying, Technical, and Ground Duty branches.

Branches & Eligibility Criteria
Here’s eligibility criteria for candidates applying for the Flying Branch:
- Gender: Male & Female
- Type of Commission: Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men & Women
- Age Limit: 20 to 24 years (up to 26 years for Commercial Pilot License holders)
- Marital Status: Unmarried
Educational Qualification Flying Branch:
- Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths & Physics at 10+2 level
AND
- Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
OR
BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. - OR
Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER (ELECTRONICS) {AE(L)}
Candidates with a minimum Of 50% marks each In Physics And Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years graduation/integrated Post-Graduation qualification In Engineering/ Technology from a recognised University or cleared sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate Membership Examination of the institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated Post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University or cleared sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

WEAPON SYSTEMS (WS) BRANCH
- Candidates should have mandatorily passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths & Physics
AND
Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
OR
BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS BRANCHES
- Passed 10+2
- Graduate Degree (Min three year degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
ACCOUNTS BRANCH
- Passed 10+2
- The candidates should have done graduation in any of the following streams with 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized University :-
- B.Com Degree (min three years course)
- Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance)
- Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA
- B.Sc. with specialization in Finance
METEOROLOGY BRANCH
- Passed 10+2
AND
B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent
OR
Four year Graduation in Engineering / Technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following streams : –
- Communication Engineering.
- Computer Engineering / Technology.
- Computer Engineering and Application.
- Computer Science and Engineering / Technology.
- Electrical and Computer Engineering.

EDUCATION BRANCH
Passed 10+2
AND
Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60%marks in Graduation in any discipline.
Selection Process
Candidates must clear the AFCAT written exam
AFSB Interview (5-Day Process): Selected candidates from the written exam proceed to the AFSSB Interview round. The interview includes OIR Test, PPDT, Psychological Tests, Group Tasks, and Personal Interview.
Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify the AFSB interview undergo a medical examination at designated Military Hospitals.
Final Merit List & Academy Allotment: The final merit list is prepared based on the Written Exam and the SSB Interview performance.

- Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad
- Technical Candidates: Training at Air Force Technical College (AFTC), Bengaluru
Training Duration:
- Flying Branch: 1.5 years
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical): 1 year
