NCC Special Entry for NCC Cadets
The NCC Special Entry Scheme is a recruitment program that allows National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets to join the Indian Armed Forces (Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force) as commissioned officers. This scheme is specifically for unmarried male and female candidates with a valid NCC ‘C’ Certificate.

NCC Special Entry for Indian Army (Short Service Commission - SSC)
The NCC Special Entry for the Indian Army is a direct entry for NCC cadets who wish to join the Army under the Short Service Commission (SSC). This entry is open to eligible unmarried male and female candidates with an NCC ‘C’ certificate.
Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit: Typically 19 to 25 years.
Educational Qualification: A degree from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks in all years. Final year students must have secured at least 50% marks in the first two or three years of their degree course.
NCC Service Requirement: At least two or three years of service in the Senior Division/Wing of NCC.
Selection Process:
- Includes shortlisting, SSB interview, and a medical examination.
Training:
- Candidates undergo 49 weeks of training at OTA, Chennai. After successful training, they are commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Army.
NCC Special Entry for Indian Air Force
The NCC Special Entry for the Indian Air Force allows NCC cadets with a valid NCC Air Wing ‘C’ Certificate to join the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force. The entry provides both Permanent Commission (PC) for men and Short Service Commission (SSC) for both men and women.
Eligibility Criteria:
Gender: Male and Female.
Age Limit: 20 to 24 years on the date of commencement of training (relaxed by 2 years for CPL holders).
Educational Qualification:
10+2: Minimum 50% marks in Maths and Physics.
Graduation: Minimum 60% marks in a three-year degree course or a BE/B Tech.
Alternatively, candidates who have cleared Section A & B exams of the Institution of Engineers or Aeronautical Society of India.
Selection Process:
- Includes NCC ‘Air’ Wing ‘C’ Certificate, shortlisting, SSB interview, and a medical examination.
Training:
- Candidates undergo training at the Air Force Academy.
NCC Special Entry for Indian Navy
The NCC Special Entry for the Indian Navy offers Permanent Commission to male NCC cadets to join the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy.
Eligibility Criteria:
Gender: Male.
Age Limit: 19 to 24 years.
Educational Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech with minimum 60% marks.
Selection Process:
- Includes shortlisting, SSB interview, and a medical examination.
Training:
- Selected candidates are trained at the Indian Naval Academy and commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Navy.
SSB Proccess
Shortlisted candidates receive a call letter for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
The SSB interview is a five-day evaluation process. It assesses a candidate’s personality, intelligence, and psychological suitability, which includes various tests such as WAT, TAT, SRT, PPDT, GTO tasks, group discussions, personal interviews, and psychological evaluations.
Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a medical examination conducted by a board of Service Medical Officers (SMOs).
Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be issued a joining letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available.
